Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

The title was supposed to be "A Review of Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer" but obviously it's a mouthful. It's been more than 3 months (approximately) since I started using this product, and I'm sure, if you follow my video tutorials or favorites video, you're already aware of what I think about this product.

But, I wanted to come up with a proper review for future reference or for those that missed my thoughts about this product.

Before we begin, here are a few facts about this particular item from the Maybelline site:

"Gel-based formula diffuses light.
Illuminates as it conceals
In 6 Shades "

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

A brighter idea in concealers:
• Gel-based formula diffuses light to provide on-the-spot perfection in just one touch
• Illuminates as it conceals
• Dermatologist, Allergy Tested
• Non-comedogenic
• Suitable for sensitive skin and for all skin types

FOR BEST RESULTS

To brighten face, apply over brows as well as to the inner and outer corners of eyes and blend with tip of finger.
Apply to sides of nose and on chin and blend to give your face a luminous glow.
To sculpt and highlight facial features, apply in small strokes to the cheekbones and blend.
To make lips look fuller, outline lips with lumi concealer and blend.
To cover imperfections, dot concealer onto desired area and blend.

So, basically this is not a concealer per se, but more of a highlighting pen minus the shimmer. Generally, it illuminates and brightens the face without any shimmer or glitter and it leaves the face shine free. It's easy to apply and quick to blend. It's sold for about $7.00-8.00 at any drug store near you and it comes in 6 shades. Here are my thoughts:

PROS:
  • It's an affordable version of the YSL touche eclat highlighting pen (not sure if I spelled that right)
  • They are readily available.
  • The packaging is sanitary, easy to use, and contains quite a bit of product.
  • The size is very convenient and travel-friendly. You can pretty much slip it anywhere, even your pockets!
  • The amount of product that a pen has can last you more than 2-3 months with every day use, depending on how much you use it of course. I'm basing this on my daily routine.
  • It's easy to use, easy to apply, and easy to blend.
  • Its coverage for the under eyes is very satisfactory, in fact, it's probably the best one I've tried so far.
  • It does not wear off throughout the day.
  • It rarely creases.
  • It's also great for illuminating the sides of the nose, mouth, and any sallow areas on the face.
CONS:
  • The writings on the packaging wear off which is a drag because I forget what color I use and then I look, and it's not there.
  • It can get a little tricky the first time you use it because you will have to turn the twist thing at the bottom more than 10 times before any product comes out. (initially I thought the product went dry!)
  • They only have 6 shades to choose from. I'm using Ivory, since it's ideal to use a shade lighter than your actual skin tone to brighten up the face.

That's all I can say about this product, I tried thinking about any more I can possible add, but my brain seems to function less especially when it's almost midnight.

If you have additional questions that were not addressed in this post, feel free to comment and I will try to get back to you ASAP.

All in all, I love this product and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I will see you in my next review :)
